We all kind of know that a morning routine or rituals are good for our focus and creativity later during the day. By having a routine, we feel like we are in control of our life, we know exactly what follows after each step. It is even comforting to know what we are going to do next. Routine gives us predictability, structure, consistency.
Yet are you good at finding a time and sticking to it?
Small things in life really matter and a good routine usually consists of a series of small tasks. What will make you happy in the morning? Is it the water running down your body when you are in the shower? Is it some type of exercise and stretching your body? Meditation? Journaling? So much to choose from but whatever it is, it helps if you feel good afterwards.
What also helps are reminders. Are you keeping track of your habits? Do you keep post notes on your fridge? Reminders on your phone?
From my own experience I know it is difficult to stick to the routine while on holiday. Usually I set a minimal routine mode and continue after a break. Changing the rituals from time to time is beneficial to stick to it for even longer as too much repetition becomes a chore and boring after while.
